Amazing Festivals

So as many of you know I’ve attended the Burning Man festival five times, it’s amazing and there is a whole section of posts from this blog a few of them are linked below and should give you a flavor of the event:

Why I love Burning Man

The heart of Burning Man

Great Burning Man photo sites

A great Burning Man blog

A guide for Burning Man first timers

However recently I’ve been looking for what’s next what festival should I try that might give me some of the same amazing experiences I’ve shared on the Playa?  Well here are some contenders or at least really fascinating festivals.

Europe’s largest fire festival: Up Helly Aa – Vikings, Burning Ships, bring your own bottle all-night party, hmmmm

Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca, a classic but a must see

Holi: The Festival of Colors (India), fabulous spring festival in India

Diwali in Amritsar, The festival of light (India), sparkling light festival in India

Festival of Fallas, Valencia, Spain, reminiscent of Burning Man, amazing art and fire

And some other interesting festivals I bumped into during my research

La Tomatina (Spain), worlds biggest tomato fight

The festival of San Fermin (The running of the bulls, Spain)

Lebowskifest, the dude, nuff said.

Mystery Weekend in Langley, WA – city sized murder mystery

Thaipusam India, interesting festival culminating with impalements

El Colacho: the baby-jumpiing festival, yeah that’s what I said

Hokitika Wildfoods festival in New Zealand for the gastronomically bold

What suggestions do you have?
