The logic of conservatives forces them to think women are less intelligent and lazier than men

Recently a piece in CNN by Nina Easton of Fortune magazine puts forward all too common refrain of conservatives and their network Fox News.  This is the idea that people who are upset about the wealth gap in America and the greed of the 1% are just jealous, whiney, losers.  You see from their perspective, the reason people are rich is that they are smarter and better than the rest of us and just plain work harder.  You see to conservatives the idea that they are not better than others and morally superior is unfathomable.  There is no luck involved, where you start out in life is irrelevant, they can’t conceive that America might actually be a country that does more to support and maintain the wealthy than to support the basic living standards of the poor or provide opportunities to the poor and middle class.

See considering that America might not be the most perfect nation ever created or conceived of violates another core conservative principle, that of American Exceptionalism.  You see according to conservatives there is something uniquely and inherently special about the United States of America.  This is fact is actually code for America is God’s chosen nation and that of course would be a Christian Protestant God.

However, these underlying principles of conservatism deny many very real facts about America.  I think the biggest one involves healthcare.  If America as conservatives claim has the greatest medical system on earth, if Americans are so special, than why do we have such a horrible infant mortality rate in this country?  We have the 28th lowest infant mortality rate and that is behind countries like:  South Korea, France, Japan, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and even Cuba.  That’s right the United States ranks behind, non-Christian countries, socialist leaning countries, countries with socialized medicine and even communist Cuba.

Back to Nina Easton’s article, if the reason the rich make more money than the rest of us is that they are smarter and work harder, how do conservatives explain that women make 77% of what men make?  Well, let’s use typical conservative logic, since you make more if you work harder and are smarter, I guess that conservatives must believe that compared to men, women are lazy and less intelligent.  Can’t imagine why the GOP struggles to get a majority of the women’s vote.

or maybe executed…

Harold Camping is the worst kind of criminal, he’s the type of man that preys upon the fears of men.  Everyone is afraid of death, everyone wants something to believe in and people like Harold Camping exploit these feelings to make themselves feel important.  Here is a man who did this once in 1994, he predicted the end of the world and salvation for the true believers.  Of course the world didn’t end, so what did he do, he said that God hadn’t revealed the whole truth and now he had a new date May 21, 2011.  He basically gave himself another 15 years to get people to give up their life savings, to foster his radio network and make money, he’s a criminal, pure and simple.

I’m not much happier about what I saw this Sunday.  Where three weeks ago Camping’s people were at the flea market handing out pamphlets about the world ending, this Sunday other Christian churches were out this week with pre-printed pamphlets and DVDs explaining why Camping was an idiot, and how their church truly understands the word of God.

I get why people need religion, and who the hell knows, one of the many religions out there might actually have the right answer, but I can’t get past hypocrites taking people’s money, time and lives while giving false hopes.  How many Harold Campings do we have to endure, how many evangelists railing against the evils of homosexuality who turn out to be gay do we need to see, how many of the pious do we have to put up with committing adultery or molesting children before we truly see what these people are doing.

Just a little rant inspired by all of the people who have been harmed recently by the actions of an evil man.

So most of you might have heard by now that there is a religious group blanketing the country or at least the West Coast with a singular message, Judgment Day is coming and it’s May 21, 2011. This group has done some interesting math based upon their interpretation of the bible and have come up with 2011 as the date for Judgment Day which is 4099 years after the floods of Noah. The main gist of their hypothesis is the following:

The context of 2 Peter 3 is extremely important! In the first few verses, God refers us to the destruction of the world by the flood during Noah’s day. Then we find an interesting admonition that we ought not to be “ignorant” of one thing, which is, 1 day is as 1000 years, and 1000 years is as 1 day. Immediately following this bit of information is a very vivid description of the end of the present world by fire. What could God be telling us by identifying 1 day along with 1000 years? Since we recently have discovered the Biblical calendar of history on the pages of the Bible, we find that the flood of Noah’s day occurred in the year 4990 BC. This date is completely accurate (for further information on the Biblical timeline of history, please go to http://www.familyradio.com. It was in the year 4990 BC that God revealed to Noah that there would be yet 7 days until the flood of waters would be upon the earth. Now, if we substitute 1000 years for each one of those 7 days, we get 7000 years. And when we project 7000 years into the future from 4990 BC, we find that it falls on the year 2011 AD. 4990 + 2011 = 7001 Note: When counting from an Old Testament date to a New Testament date, always subtract one year because there is no year zero, resulting in: 4990 + 2011 – 1 = 7000 years exactly.

And finally, they come to the date of May 21, 2011 through the following logic:

On May 21st, 1988, God finished using the churches and congregations of the world. The Spirit of God left all churches and Satan, the man of sin, entered into the churches to rule at that point in time. The Bible teaches us that this awful period of judgment upon the churches would last for 23 years. A full 23 years (8400 days exactly) would be from May 21 st, 1988 until May 21st, 2011. This information was discovered in the Bible completely apart from the information regarding the 7000 years from the flood. Therefore, we see that the full 23-year tribulation period concludes on May 21st, 2011. This date is the exact day that the great tribulation comes to its end, and this is also the most likely landing spot for the 7000 years from the flood of Noah’s day.

So, if this all makes complete and total sense to you and you think that the bible, a book written well after Christ’s death is accurate to the day, and all of this groups assumptions are correct. Then I guess you have to also accept that God left us all in 1988, I mean the 80’s were bad, but I don’t think they were so bad God abandoned us. But, if you think that makes sense my friends, then go to church, confess your sins and clean your soul so you can join in the rapture. In fact, that makes a ton of sense, just take an hour or so as a precaution, because let’s say they are right. If they are you get to go to Heaven while us heathens are left here to fight the forces of the Devil in the great battle of Armageddon. So if you aren’t going to church on Saturday to confess your sins, you best be out buying ammo!
