July Poetry, Day 1 – Bukowski
So last year for the month of June I did a poetry month and it was a lot of fun, I posted 30 poems in 30 days. This year, I’m a month later so I decided to up the ante a bit and do both a poem and an image each day. I will post some of my own words but for the most part I’m using other poets, some well-known, some who will be utterly new to all of you. Please provide comments and feedbacks on the poems and images you like. A lot of the photos will be mine or from another photographer I shoot with from time to time.
In digging around to find poems to publish for this month I found a lot of poetry I hadn’t read before, some really amazing stuff in my opinion. I’ve also included some of the masters and my favorites, Neruda, Poe, McWilliams and of course the master Mr. Charles Bukowski which is where we will start today, enjoy ~ ZDB
THE ALIENS
from The Last Night Of The Earth Poems
By Charles Bukowski
you may not believe it
but there are people
who go through life with
very little
friction of distress.
they dress well, sleep well.
they are contented with
their family
life.
they are undisturbed
and often feel
very good.
and when they die
it is an easy death, usually in their
sleep.
you may not believe
it
but such people do
exist.
but i am not one of
them.
oh no, I am not one of them,
I am not even near
to being
one of
them.
but they
are there
and I am
here.
